I have three drives on the mac. Drive A is the system disk. Drive B is an external NAS box that I just use as a USB disk that had music and old backups. Drive C is a USB disk.

I copied all of my data from A and B to C. iPhoto Library, Music, etc. Then I formatted drive B for use as a Time Machine disk. Tonight, drive C died. I feel fortunate that I have a backup on drive B but I get the nagging feeling that I would never have had a problem had I just left crap alone.
