A Fist Full of CDs; An Ear Full of Nostalgia

The last few years haven't been filled with CDs. I've purchased plenty of music, just not CDs. Last week I ended up with four new CDs.

The non-nostalgia disc is Vice from The Architects. Since I know that I take a while to warm up to some albums I am withholding judgement. It's definitely not bad. I just don't know to what degree I like it. This paragraph is displays the fact that I could never be a music reviewer.

Now the trip to Nostalgiaville, and I am not talking about that place on the kitschy shop off the Auxvasse, MO exit. It is slightly tragic that the following CDs came from an antique store.

First up is Irresistible Bliss by Soul Coughing. Jud was always a big fan of Soul Coughing played this album quite a bit. I don't think I have ever owned this before but I know every song on this disc.

I am now able to relive lonely nights watching 120 Minutes with Girlfriend by Matthew Sweet. I know that the title track is well represented on alternative radio, but there are some times that I want to hear it now. And I have that option. When I popped the CD in while pulling out of the parking lot, I realized that I don't know any other songs off of this album. This does show how much 120 Minutes influenced me as I nearly always pick up any albums whose title I remember being uttered by Dave Kendall.

Last up is the Singles soundtrack. This came out in 1992 and I had a copy nearly immediately after it's release. I don't think I saw the movie until at least 1996. This is a pretty strong collection of songs! I'm not a fan of "Would?" and I don't like anything Chris Cornell does outside of pre "Black Hole Sun" Soundgarden.

Comments:
singles rocks. just rerented the dvd to um..make sure that I don't have to rent it again as the vhs copy is worn to a frazzle. great soundtrack as well. nice.

That may be my favorite soundtrack. I think Birth Ritual by Soundgarden is one of their best songs and one of the heaviest songs around.

Great stuff through and through.
