Thank You G. W. Bush
The president is not the King, that's Elvis's job. The King is dead or in those Burger King commercials while W. is still alive and kicking and making people made all over the country. They nearly turned downtown K.C. off today on his behalf. It's really a nightmare when you close a major highway bypass, like 670, that carries hundreds of thousands of people a day. It's made worse when you close pretty much all the surface streets that run a given direction, like north. Going north in Kansas City today was impossible.
We're a little carried away on the worship and protection of politicians. Even if they are candidates the security detail and the entourages rival anything Hollywood harlots ... I mean starlets, can come up with.
These people work for us. The president is hired by us, sort of, if by "us" you mean a panel of people that are allowed to pick the president after we herd like cattle in to voting booths to make our selves feel some sense of civic pride. I don't like seeing the flagrant waste of money and time on just another person. Because that's all he is. Just a person that we gave a job to. Just like you or me or your crazy neighbor with all the cats and poor hygiene. He is not worth making thousands of people spend thousands of man-hours in there cars. Think of the environmental impact of all those cars idling. Though I'm sure that is nowhere near the damage done by the hot air that was released inside the convention center where El Presidenté was speaking.
