New Camera

It guess it's pretty ironic that I bought a new camera and I'm posting about it with no pictures. Pretty clever.

I had been talking about getting another camera for quite a while. I love shooting with Jacey's D50 but it's hers. It's also big. I wanted something that I could keep handy. I seem to run in to situation where I want to take a picture but all I have is the camera in my RAZR which is alsmost like not having a camera at all.

It was really hard to buy a point and shoot! It was also tremendously frustrating flipping through menus. I usually use the aperture priority or program modes on the D50 to get the shots I want, usually a wide open aperture with an odd angle and placement of the in focus subject. It doesn't quite work the same on the point and shoot cameras. I looked at a couple that had more manual options but then I was up in the price range of the entry level SLR bodies.

I ended up with a Canon ELPH SD1000. So far I'm really happy with it. I've been able to get some pretty good pictures in my style without too much fuss. The major drawback is the lack of a manual focus. Me and autofocus don't often agree on my subject. It does work well with faces since it has facial recognition, which is oddly accurate and freaky as hell. It does not, however, pick up cat's faces.
