RED Development Is Taking My Money

This company has been in the news quite a bit around here. They did the Wal-Mart area at Blue Ridge, they are working with Lego Land in Lee's Summit and they are also "wooing" Target and Lowe's to Blue Springs in the Adam's Dairy Parkway area.

These are all TIF projects. And I feel they are a terrible abuse of the TIF system. Adam's Dairy Parkway is not a blighted area in need to re-development. It's a new growing corridor. Wal-Mart and Home Depot both moved in to that area without TIF incentives, why can't anyone else? It's a main corridor off of I-70. The roads are new and manicured. There is a multi-use trail. There area growing subdivisions at both ends of the road. There is a new lake with a developing park. There is a golf course. This is an area that will literally grow money. We don't need to give ours away to help these mega-developers profit even more.
