Anniversary
Jacey and I celbrated our 3 year anniversary this week. On the actual day we went and ate dinner at Bollywood. We had planned on taking this entire weekend and going out of town or doing something big.
Friday night I ended up at work until about 1:00 a.m. I got up around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. At that point it seemed like going out of town wouldn't go too smoothly. We decided to have Kansas City Day #2. We wanted to start with a meal since neither of us had breakfast.
We got to Crown Center a little after 11:00. We were planning on eating at Milano but they didn't open until noon. We wandered around Crown Center, walked through every part of The Link, walked through a hallway where there was a conference for helping blind people and looked at a some model trains! This was all before noon!
The trains are just awesome. Everytime Jacey and I see a nice train display we think it looks like so much fun... then we look at the prices for some of the pieces! Wow.
Milano was great. We did the "Mixerini Bar" where you pick the nigredients for your pasta and the cook it right there. The staff there is always excellent. The chef was really personable and really pushed you toward good tasting combinations. This was my second time here and I definitely will have a 3rd.
After lunch we hopped on a Max and rode down to the plaza. The art fair was going on and I thought Jacey would enjoy it. I had a lot of reservations about the style of art that would be there and I went in fully expecting to be let down. I was really wrong! I mean there was some uninspired crap there, but there were a lot of really good works! A lot of lowbrow and modern-folk work. Lots of voodoo and campy stuff in mixed media. There were some amazing metal sculptures and these really neat little glass bead heads. The downside is not having the money to really buy much of anything. I was really dismayed at the cost of prints by some of the artists, just over the top. I expect intricate originals to be costly. There could be weeks worth of work in those.
We left the Plaza and walked north to meet Nick in westport. We met up but Jacey wasn't feeling well so we headed over to Main to catch the Max again. There are some interesting people at the bus stop at 39th and Main.
After we got back to our car we headed out to Pin-Up Bowl. I like the on ein St. Louis and I've heard good things about the one out at Legends too. It could probably have been cool but the crowd was not my cup of tea. There were a lot of yuppies and then some guys playing pool that kept playing Kid Rock. Horrible, horrible music.
I have absolutely no desire to ever go back to that mall. Ugh.
We stopped and ate dinner at the Asian Tiger then went home and had a nap. From there we headed down to the great town of Odessa to see the Rumblejetts play. It was a good show! I really enjoy seeing those guys play.
I also got to drinkning... oh man. At some point I switched to gin and tonics. I had been under a lot of stress all week, ate a lot of Mexican, didn't sleep much, guzzled coffee and had overall had a lot of heartburn. So after the drinkning and all the smoke my stomach had it's revenge today. I threw up at least once an hour from 6 until 1. It was horrible. There was nothing in my stomach, I dry heaved, puked yellow bile... it was horrible. I'm still sore in my back and stomach from being tensed up so hard. I think I need to watch what I'm doing more. I've had a lot of problems with heartburn and such in the past but I mostly deal with it and drench everything in hot sauce anyway. I'm going to try getting back on the acid reducers and not eating every meal as hot as I can stand it.
