Crime Scene KC

I've been checking the Crime Scene KC blog lately. They have been posting stories abotu the DUI checkpoints. I posted in the announcement of the St. Patrick's day ones. It got deleted. Every comments was so pro-checkpoint and saying "it's easy to call a cab or get on the bus." My post was "Yes it's easy to get around the KC Metro area witht eh wonderful public transit system we have." Deleted. I guess they don't appreciate sarcasm over there.

I just called a cab company. From Westport to my house, granted I live on the fringe area, is $32. That does not take into account getting my vehicle back the next morning. The bus is quite a bit cheaper but has VERY limited hours. No weekends at all... well except for Chiefs games, gotta cover that. During the week the latest out of downtown (Union Station actually) is at 5:10. To Blue Ridge (the closes major point) leaves at 6:30.

I realise that I'm complaining about wanting to live an urban lifestyle in a suburban environment. But we don't actually want to live in the suburbs. Unfotunately we have no real choice. A comparable neighborhood in KC would be was out of our price range. Just looking at the recent school grade cards that were put out, I would be robbing my daughter of a wonderful education. I'm always looking though and weighing the effect of home vs. school on education outcomes.
