A Weeked

When I picked Lily up last Sunday she said that she wanted to stay the next weekend.

There was a "Sweetheart Dance" for children and a "special person" that I was going to take Lily to on Friday. She got a fancy new dress and I got new buttons for my suit. I called Thursday morning to make the reservation... and of course they were full. I quickly started looking at other things to do.

We ended up going the the City Extremem theater at Union Station. It's a giant screen where they show in 3D. I was asking lily about that and when I told her about the movie that was playing she got really excited. It was some African safari. It was actully really cool. A lot more educational than I expected.

Since we had tickets to there I thought we would go out to a nice dinner. We started at the Union Cafe in Union Station. Unfortunately, their dinner menu is not at all like there lunch menu. There are absolutely zero non-meat choices. The waiter suggested that we take the Link and head to Crown Center.

Lily really enjoyed the Link. It is pretty cool to walk over the roads. We got to crown center and went to some Italian place there... it starts with an "M." After people that arrived after us, and it was gettign late, we gave up and went to Zteca. So much for the fancy dinner.

The movie was pretty awesome. The 3d was really good and it was really entertaining and educational. Lily really enjoyed it.

Lily's mother recently moved to Northeast. There house seems nice enough but the neighborhood is overall pretty crappy. When I picked Lily up I asked her if she liked her house. She does. Then I asked if she liked her neighborhood. She lokoed down and said, "No, there's no kids."

When we were heading to Union Station she asked where we were going. I told her Kansas City. She said that's where her mother lived. After the movie lily said, "Why don't we live in Kansas City, it's silly to drive to Kansas City from Blue Springs jsut to do things." I told her that I agreed but her to think about her Mother's house and how she didn't like the neighborhood.

I really wish we could live closer to/in the city so special things like that weren't so rare. I can't bear to take away the quiet suburban cul-de-sac though. I don't want to have to worry about her constantly. Where I'm at I can trust her to just go outside and around our block to her friends' houses and not really worry. That's a nice innocence that I had growing up in a small town that I really want Lily to experience.
