Nostalgia's always better...

When you're looking back on it. There are many people in my life that live on remember that, that was so good, those were good times.

I love the lives I've lived. I love the memories of hearing Operation Ivy for the first time, learning all the songs on The Real Thing by Faith No More. Listening to In Utero and having the candle in my room blow out at the same time as "Frances Farmer" starts. I love the memories of learning to work the record player to listen to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, my Deep Purple 8-track, my Scooby Doo portable record player. I love the bar band that was playing at the bar at the lake when I was 11 because that's what made me fall in love with the bass.

I love the first girl I was ever loved and knew, in the biblical sense. I love my high school sweetheart, err... sweethearts. I love every girl that I ever exchanged love notes with. Every girl that I ever exchanged a moment of a glance with. Every girl I ever kissed and cuddled. The memories are perfect in my mind.

But most of all I love today. The day that I'm living right now! Every memory I have is cherished and a sacred part of me but every moment is a new memory. So many people in my life are content with yesterday and so desperately want to go back. I want to desperately go forward. The pain, the joy, the sorrow, the happiness... however severe it was last last week... it will be more this week. Right now!

Comments:
Awesome comments. I cracked up when I read the bolded word 'TODAY' because it reminded me of when Nick Gove busted through the door of your apartment singing Today by Smashing Pumpkins, walked over and lit up a cigarette because he had finally lost his virginity. That's the sort of memory of experience that was perfect even at the moment...most other memories from that time have been given such monumental status only with time and distance. When we were living those days, were we thinking "These are the best days of our lives?" Maybe sometimes...mostly not, though.
