Ramblings From Justin Penney

Yesterday Ryan called me. Him and Tiffany were out at the city wide garage sale in Odessa and he noticed a motorcycle. He went down and looked at it and promptly called me. He kept mentioning that it was a "really cool" bike. And in great shape and on and on. I thought about it but told him that I would pass. The he offered me the number for the guy selling it and I told him I would have to call Jacey first.

I really though Jacey would be against it but her response was more like, "Well, you've been wanting to get another bike for a long time." So that settled it. I called the guy we talked a while and agreed on a price and I headed down to give it a test ride.

When I showed up there was a woman there on the phone that was also talking to the owner. Her husband was looking for a bike and she was telling him about it. I looked it over and was talking to the owner and she was realying everything we said to him. I took it for a short ride and decided to get it. I got back and the girl left and we did the deal. I was packing up the extra parts (seat, helmets, oil and filter) when the husband of the girl pulled up. He was pretty bummed but this was his first day of bike shopping and I'm sure he'll find a good one.

The bike had a king and queen seat on... which would be good for 2-up riding but I really wanted to put the original flat seat back on. I rode it to my grandparents' and had my siter run me over to get my van from there. I was in the driveway changing the seats out when an car stopped quickly in front of me. It was the girl that had been looking at the bike! She came out and said, "Are you going to be selling the bike at all?" I informed her that I was going to keep it and she looked sad and left.

Ryan and Tiffany came by and helped me finish up the seat and now it looks like this

A few years ago I bought to GS550's for $150. Neither ran but there were overall repairable but I never did anything with them so they've been sitting in my mother-in-laws barn for about 4 years. Now I'm really glad I got those since I have a good supply of parts and some pieces that I would have wanted to purchase anyway. I have a set of spoked wheels and some lower handle bars that are going on ASAP.
