You're Awfully Casual
Discover card has been awfully casual with their solicitations to their existing customers. Yesterday they called the tech support line at work to contact my boss and when I answered the person said, "Hey man, could I talk to Kyle?" Really weird.
Yesterday was the day that Missouri residents started to be able to get a free annual credit report. I got one. I was talking to my wife about it and she mentioned that on her last one that she had an open Discover card account but didn't have the card anymore. She had destroyed the card after Discover did a voice authorization on her card that had been stolen and handily moved it over to the new replacement account. We got the charge removed and paid off the card and she cut it up. She did not close the account though.
So she had mentioned this Discover card and we had just found out that our card witha big balance but rediculously low interest had went up because the two months that I was in charge of bills I paid the bill late. Basically the interest went up 25%. Not to 25%, it raised 25%. So she got a new card and transferred over soem of the balance. Anyway... back to Discover. I answer the phone and the guy on the other end says, "Hey Jacey?" I said, "No may I ask what this is regarding?" He told me he was from Discover card.
Anyway... transferred the rest of the balance over, at least most of it I think, at a good super-low interest rate.
Because of this new casual greeting had I not seen that it was Discover on the caller ID at work I probably would have hung up believing it was a scam. Jacey did all the right things by getting a callback and all but it is a little scary giving detailed account information to someone that calls you.
