What a Friday

His Last Chance had a show at a place we'd never played at before. We were excited and got everything ready and got there. We had heard on of the bands we played with but not the guy that did the "Jack Black" thing that was playing before us. Either way, we like to play and were excited.

From the moment we show up I get a weird feeling. The crowd does not look like a crowd into rock music (for the record friends of mine likened the band that played after us to a mix of Sublime and a Calypso band). We're optimistiv though and give it a shot.

The acoustic guitar guy that opened the show tried to be funny. I think most of his songs wer about humping goats but we were sitting right there toward the front clapping after each song.

He finishes and we finish getting set up and finally start in on playing. After the first song there was a "that song sucked" yelled from the audience. This completely set the mood for the rest of the show. We played one of our new songs that has an abrupt end. It was the longest moment of silence I have ever heard. I even went up to the mic and announced the next song, "Up In Flames." I turned from the mic to face Shane and said, "Just like this show." We trudged on through and basically gave up. I got told to turn down for the first time in this band.

So later I found out that the douchebag acoustic guy was talking trash on us through the whole set. After "Up In Flames" Tiffany heard him say something like, "that song sure went up in flames." Anyway, we left and went to a different bar.

Ryan, Tiffany, Shane and I were all in Ryan's van. We were at this next bar for a few hours. David and his friend Joe and Joe's girlfriend came out. Shane had to leave early so David said he'd take me home and we proceeded to close down the bar. It was a good time.

So we were leaving and I looked at my phone and I had missed a call from Jacey. I called her back and she told me that she was going to work because someone broke into her store. I asked where she was and she wasn't far so I told her to come back and get me and I'd go with her.

1:30 a.m. we're driving all the way from Blue Springs, MO to Lenexa, KS. It's about 40 minutes. We get there and the front window is busted in and some stuff is strewn about. The cops come over and tell us not to touch anything that the burglar might have touched. Jacey can't really tell what would have been stolen but they had caught the guy anyway. Jacey is franticaly calling people about getting the window fixed and securing the store and such. The police kept mentioning that the guys that did the burglary was a little weird and was even wearing flip-flops. That's what I would wear around broken plate glass!

The guy broke into Jacey's store, a Chinese restaraunt and some other place that we weren't able to figure out. I mean... what worthless places to break in to. After the police and detectives aer done we start cleaning up the glass and waiting for the guy from the glass company. Another officer comes in and tells us to come to the police station in one hour to pick up the recovered property. Jacey asks if she could just pick it up tomorrow and he basically said no, pick it up in one hour. The glass guy wasn't there so we really had no control over when we got to leave. We laid down on a couch near the front and just waited. The glass guy finally came and we were in awe of the way he was able to so efficiently get the old busted glass out. It was pretty cool.
