Archival

Shane told me that he is writing his memoirs. It seems kind of strange to start your memoirs at 25 but it makes sense. Write down the things important to you when you can remember them well. I gave him some grief about being egotisitical and that he was writing the next "My Life," but it was all in jest.

That got me thinking about my journaling, which I try but have resolve to just "blogging," and all the stuff I have recorded. Jacey has been thinking about it too since she asked me what I was going to do with all the music that I recorded for myself. I really hadn't thought abotu it. I did think however to archive it as I was rebuilding the studio cmoputer. DVD backups are burning right now!

I have 20 songs (and these are only the ones I've kept open, there are more on some previous backups) in various stages of being recorded. Many stemmed from experiments and none of them sound similar.

One song snippet was recorded with one stereo pair of microphones. The "mixing" was all done by where I put the instrument in the room. Another was playing with drum mic techniques and it's this neat little bass and drum jazzy jam. Some songs are "harder" and have a surprisingly clean hi-fi sound to them (surprising because I generally don't aim for a clear seperated recording, I like bleed!). Others... well they just plain suck, I know why now but they were a good learning experience that is now catalogged.

I've got a list of 20 songs in their various states of disrepair that I'm going to get in order and start fleshing out. This will be a wilde ride of a CD.
