0:58 Tribute to Deep Purple

This is something I'd had hanging around a little while. Keep in mind that it's intentionally lo-fi.

The little ditty is based around me trying to get that awesome old rock organ out of some of the software synths I have around. I ended up using one of the ones that came with Tracktion (which Mackie gave free license offers to readers of TapeOp and is pretty cool but I still love Sonar). After playing with the presets I stuck a Marshall JCM900 emulator on the audio channel and there it went.

The drums were orignally done using FL Studio (aka FruityLoops) as a VSTi. I later only used the loop during the break.

The real drums were done with an Oktava MC012, an Audio-Technica ATM-25 in the kick and an MXL 990 around the corner for some ambience. The drums were multed and I compressed the snot out of one of the mults and brought it back in under the plain ones. I also delayed the room just a pinch to give a little more space.

The bass was my P-Bass straight in clipping the mic-pre a little then getting smashed with an A.R.T. Pro VLA.

There's no vocals... my dry spell is still in full effect...
