I used the KCATA Trip Planner to plot the commute from my house to my office. This is a 18 - 20 minutes drive with clear traffic and 30 - 50 minutes with bad traffic. Here's my first attempt at gettign to work at 8:30:

• At 5:50 AM Take Bus route 170 -Blue Springs Express (Metro). At 6:44 AM, arrive at stop on Grand at 18th Southbound, Kansas City MO (54 min.).
• At 6:44 AM Walk to stop on 19th at Grand Westbound, Kansas City MO for transfer.
• At 7:12 AM Take Bus route 123 -23rd Street (Metro). At 7:23 AM, arrive at stop on Southwest Blvd at Wyoming Southbound, Kansas City MO (11 min.).
• At 7:23 AM Walk to 1100 Cambridge Cir. Arrive at 7:36 AM (13 min.).

That would put me at work at 7:45. So 8.5 hours later to get home I would:

So the KC area can rally together for a new stadium and rally around a bi-state tax that goes to sports venues but I can't use public transportation to get to work! This is why KC is not a world class city!
