his last chance - kc indie rock
I'm getting ready to record the rest of the his last chance songs. So as pre-production we've been messing around getting sounds right and recording our practices and tweaking the setup from there. We often just stick a stereo pair at the end of the room and hopefully capture the good ideas (of course it's never up when we really jam out on something awesome) but this is just mind blowing. After each practice we sit down and split the practice into tracks and burn CDs for everyone. We get over the recording anxiety, we've got a pretty developed sonic imprint and we have all of our mistakes staring us in the face! Listening is rough. All the missed notes that in a live setting would just be gone and forgotten. We also get all the improv. Nick is very good abotu accenting little things or throwing a spurious note in here and there that sound so awesome but he immediately forgets what he did.
